Hey Everyone!
I hope your week is off to a good start. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I’ve been hard at work on Lily and the Great Cat Caper! I’m still targeting a release date for the end of the year, so fingers crossed. In the meantime, I have another story that I’m excited to share.
The Crimson Crusader
Introducing Captain Redtail! Captain Redtail will be a single comic book story telling the adventures of the oldest superhero in the Kassaverse. Captain Redtail is essentially Captain America meets Superman. I’ve always wanted to tell a story captured the spirit of classic pulp era comics. And now, I’ve found my angle.
Faster than a speeding bullet!
Before I started reading comics, I remember going to flea market with my parents when I was about 4 and finding an old vhs tape with Superman on the cover. There were a couple episodes of the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. These Superman cartoons were from 1940’s but they looked as good as anything from the present time. Once I started watching them, I was hooked! Everything from the music, the visual style of the characters and backgrounds were so distinct of that era. It’s no surprise that the series had a huge impact on everything that came after.
With Captain Redtail, I want to bring that same “good versus evil” story, but also incorporate a bit more historical context and perspective that was missing from that era.
Here is a brief synopsis of the story below:
The year is 1947 and former Tuskegee Airman, Samuel Sanders, has just moved to the
Big Apple! Hoping to jump start his career in advertising, Sam learns the hard way that
while the world changed after World War II, in many ways, things back home have not. Sam uncovers a plot to revive the program that gave him his special abilities and is forced out of the shadows to become New York City’s newest hero!
